Software removes unwanted tourists from photos

Tourist remover - just released from Swiss software engineering company futureLAB. It's an online tool that removes unwanted moving objects (like tourists or moving vehicles) from photographs. Interesting.

The process is fully automatic but you need 3 to ten photos of the same object taken in succession for the software to churn out a 'cleaned' image at the end. It is packaged with Snapmania - another photo organiser/sharing thingy - but I cannot seem to find any reference to it on the site.

Anyone use Snapmania and the Tourist remover?

1. I think that is wonderful, I often need to remove items from images and it would be great to be able to take unwanted or unattractive people from photographs.

2. Sounds like something similar to Microsoft's Groupshot? http://research.microsoft.com/projects/GroupShot/

I've tried Groupshot a few times with varying results. One excellent and two so-so.

3. I had totally forgotton about Group Shot; it has more flexibility than this Tourist Remover I think, selective areas etc. (Naff name aint it, Tourist Remover?)

4. Don't forget that you can achieve much the same results using layers in Photoshop. Simply stack the images, line them up, and erase the unwanted content from the layers. Quick, easy, and I didn't have to buy another app.

5. That is true C but many people do not have photoshop and for many it is overkill for a little tinkering.
