1. Good eye. Looks like it was taken in the south (which I love).

Are the white globe lights distracting? No. In fact, I wish the photo was a little taller... making the globe lights the surprise object of attention in the photo.

There's a little too much room on the right... the photographer should have turned 1 inch to the left and moved 1 inch back so as to give more room on the top and bottom.

Nice shot, though.

2. No offense to the photographer as I do enjoy this photo, with the reservations that have been mentioned already, but there are a lot of better photos on the Flickr page. I'm not sure what warrants a photo of the day since obviously there is not one on this site EVERY day. Still, I find it rather annoying that a number of much better photographs are being ignored for photos such as this that number one, do not include EXIF data which is clearly mentioned as being a REQUIREMENT, and number two, has obvious problems with cropping, quality and photographic skill.

Please don't take this as sour grapes as I have yet to submit a photo to the flickr group for submission. I am simply a daily reader who has gotten annoyed over the lack of a "daily photo" and the fact that photos such as this are continually displayed.

3. Thanks for the note Justin. Two points though; although this was added to our flickr group without EXIF data I thought it merited inclusion and thought as as occurred some discussion might be generated. It isn't actually a DPD because of the missing EXIF and because of the points I raised in regards to the photo itself. Again no disrespect to the owner, as with just a few minor tweaks it could be a great image.

You ask about what makes a submission to our flickr group worthy of DPD? Simply something that catches my or Jay's eye. Something different. Something good. Both myself and Jay have different ideas on what is good or bad, as I am sure you do to.

Actually I have been hesitant in posting a photo every single day - although I could if necessary. I wasn't sure if it was what everyone wanted to see on this site.

So I put a call out. Do you as readers want a DPD every day?

But I do understand this requires the bloggers of this site to post it every day. Maybe some script could be made here, I don't know.

I just wanted to thank you for posting my photo for "Photo of the Day", I'm honored!! I'm sorry about the EXIF data - I have re-applied it to the photos, and was not aware that it was such an integral part of the photo-critiquing process. BUT, it's there now, and I'm glad you mentioned it!!
I would like to explain myself to Justin though, and comment on his post. As I stated, I didn't know that the EXIF data was that important, and I'm sorry for that. It has been added now. As for the "obvious problems with cropping, quality and photographic skill", I have only been doing this since November of 2005, NO professional training, and doing this with a point and shoot. I do it for my enjoyment, and do as much research as I can on the internet and in books to better myself. I'm sorry you thought my photo was that bad, but am glad you took the time to comment on it, along with everyone else. I will pay more attention to my cropping, try to see the "Whole picture" and fill it better, and can only improve on my picture taking skills day by day. Again, I appreciate ALL the feedback that everyone has input, and will go back on the original and see if I can do the adjustments that were suggested. I don't think I can do much to it, from what I can remember it was after a meal at the Waffle House, and I was stuffed!! hehe.....
