The first winning image in this year's Digital Camera Photographer of the Year contest is Mustakim's 'Poverty', a beautifully lit shot which met the category brief - Powerful Portraits - perfectly. It was taken with a Canon EOS 20D (Focal length: 75mm Shutter speed: 1/160mm).
This is the first section in the Digital Camera Photographer of the Year contest. To come are rounds on Landscapes, Animal and nature, Action and Movement, Travel and Black and White.
