(Page 1)2. Have had the Pentax for six mos- comments about the flash are correct but if you give it plenty of recharge time you can work around it. I purchase a Tamron zoom lens and it seems superior to the original-I,ve had some great action and aerial real estate shots with it. The color is great. Overall I am pleased with its performance for its small size and you don't have to worry about the battery " state-of-charge" if it sits for three weeks. Took it to France and shot 450 pix--most were excellent(as long as you don't rely on the flash)-I still love my Spotmatics but I can't say I'm disappointed in the Ist.

4. Noisy sensor? It is the same sensor that the Nikon D70 and D50 use, and most reviews list the lack of noise as a plus for this camera.
The Pentax images are intentionally a little under-exposed in the default settings, since this preserves the detail in the highlights. This is easily adjusted in post-processing to achieve the same bright images as the competition, but with plenty of detail in the highlights. If you're not into post-processing, the custom controls allow you to increase the "brightness" and sharpness or use exposure compensation to achieve the same effect as the competition.
I would hope that people don't base their opinion of this camera on this review and check out the many other positive reviews: CNet (very good editor review and excellent user review), DC Views and the very thorough review of the DS at Steve's Digicams, to name a few (note that some of the complaints about the DS were corrected in the DS2 and available as a firmware upgrade for the DS.)
Check out some user forums and you will find some very enthusiastic Pentax DS users, as well. This review definitely does a disservice to a fine camera. I have one myself and have been very happy with it.

1. It's too bad, since they have some fun lenses, including nice wide-angle options.
