Canon has released a firmware update that corrects issues surrounding the use of the remote
release.
It should be installed for those using firmware versions up to 1.0.2 on Digital Rebel XT and EOS350D.
To check the cameras current firmware version number (on the 350D)

Set the camera to P mode or one of the other creative modes (not basic modes)

Press the MENU button (you did switch it on first didnt you?)

Press the right cursor button to display the Set-up Menu 2 list

The last setting will display the current version.
My EOS350D is only a couple of weeks old; so this 1.0.3 version is already installed. If you need to update the camera full instructions are supplied on the canon website.
