This looks like it will be a useful little gadget when it hits the US, presumably in the next year or so: Panasonic has come out with an SD card copier. My Japanese is a little rusty, so I'm relying on Liam for the details, but it's pocekt-sized and runs on a single AA battery that should give about 4 hours of run time. Two modes allow it to copy the entire card or just the 'DCIM' folder. This means that the widget will actually read the info on the card instead of simply performing a byte copy, which has drawbacks and advantages. The downside is that it will have built-in DRM and won't copy protected images. For the most part, though, this shouldn't bother photographers. The upside is that the data can be written out to larger or smaller cards. Copying files also means that the data should be written sequentially, which is good recovery prep. All in all, it should be a nifty tool for making on the road backups; hopefully a CF version won't be far behind.
