In a press relase today, Samsung announced that it plans to release it's much-anticipated 16GB NAND chip next year doubling the storage capacity of current media. This won't be of immediate interest to most photographers since the the volume size will exceed the capacities of the filesystems used by most current camera firmware. It does, however, open the door to ultra capacity cameras down the road because unlike current 16GB solutions, this will be a single chip capable of being put into a card instead of a multi-chip PCMCIA card or hard drive. In a testament to how quickly they're moving on this, the spec sheet for the K9WAG08U1M is already available on their website,
