Infrared Effects in Photoshop & In the Camera

Want your shots to look like they were shot with infrared? Then give these tutorials a shot.  This first tutorial has both a tutorial for monochrome as well as infrared and as Actions for Photoshop already for download. I created this image using the downloaded actions. I am pretty happy with the results and there are three different action sets that let you control certain aspects of the effect. Here is another link to a PDF Tutorial that I have used in the past with great results.

Infrared Test

Now if you really want to get into infrared photography with your digital camera you are going to tweak some of the settings in your camera and buy some special filters. This tutorial tells it all. Not all camera sensors are going to have the same response to the infrared spectrum as others.

If you use this tutorial to create the infrared effect submit the picture to our Flickr Group and we will feature some of the shots here at the digitalphotographyweblog. Just leave a note with the picture saying that it was created with one the tutorials that you read here.
