1. A friend of mine who is a serious hobbyist recent ran into this problem when she gave a PhotoCD to her niece of some portraits they had done. She was able to get Wal-Mart to print them by showing that she owned the negatives.

3. My brother-in-law made up a family portrait for Christmas cards a couple of years ago and uploaded it to one of the online sites (either Ofoto or Shutterfly). They made him sign a release form saying he was the photographer before they printed it. They covered themselves AND he got his prints.

I don't understand why Walmart wouldn't let the person sign the release form if the person is claiming to be the photographer.

4. Same experience here after giving a disk full of photos I had taken at a friend's wedding. They were told no prints without a release signed by the photog. Krogers (grocery store chain), I believe.

5. I've had prints done by wal-mart. At first, they were unwilling to print them, but I showed them that I had thrown a watermark at the bottom right of the photo that had my name on it, and showed my photo ID. Then they produced a paper release that they had me sign. I was actually not too impressed with the quality of the prints; I have an Epson R1800, and I find that I get better looking prints out of it anyway.

6. I did a wedding this year. Gave the bride a CD with 240 pictures on it. She has not been able to get prints made anywhere, so, I had to prepare a print 'release' letter for her. It had to have her name on it and be signed by me as the photographer.
